Seimai Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
This privacy policy explains how Seimai (“we”, “us”) collects,
uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app and website. Seimai is
operated by SW6 LTD (company number 11900842), registered in England and Wales with its
registered office at International House, 12 Constance Street, London, E16 2DQ, United
Kingdom. SW6 LTD is the data controller for personal data processed by the Service.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, display name (optional), and
password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive
your email and name from those providers.
- User content: videos you request summaries for, notes you create,
comments you post, channels you subscribe to, and public notes you share with other
users.
- Usage data: basic logs of your activity (API requests, errors) used
for debugging and tier limits enforcement. We do not track your location or browsing
outside the app.
- Device information: a device token for push notifications (if you
enable them) and a device identifier (a fingerprint) used to prevent trial abuse.
How we use your information
- To generate AI-powered summaries of YouTube videos you request.
- To send push notifications about new summaries and social activity (only if you opt in).
- To send transactional emails (email verification, trial reminders).
- To enforce subscription tier limits (e.g. monthly summary quota).
- To improve the service and investigate bugs or abuse.
Lawful basis for processing
Under the UK GDPR, we process your personal data on the following lawful bases:
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b)): processing necessary to provide the
Service you've signed up for — account management, generating summaries you request,
enforcing tier limits, and billing.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): operational logging,
security, debugging, and abuse prevention. We balance these against your interests
and rights.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): for optional features such as push
notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior
processing.
How we share your information
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising.
We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate Seimai:
- LLM providers (e.g. Google Gemini via proxy): video transcripts and
your chat messages are sent to generate summaries and answers. These providers do not
store the content beyond what's needed to respond to the request.
- Resend: for sending transactional emails.
- Expo Push / FCM / APNs: for delivering push notifications.
- Google / Apple: for OAuth sign-in verification only (we receive your
email and name; they do not receive your Seimai activity).
- RevenueCat: for managing subscriptions (when you subscribe).
International data transfers
Some of the providers above (notably LLM providers and push services) are based outside
the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally,
we rely on safeguards permitted by the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, including UK adequacy
regulations, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, and Standard Contractual
Clauses with the receiving party. You can request more detail on the specific
safeguards in place by emailing us.
Public content
Notes you explicitly mark as Published are visible to other Seimai users and may
appear in the public feed, on user profiles, and on the shared web page for that note.
Private notes remain visible only to you.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your
account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except for a limited set
of records we are required or permitted to keep:
- Payment and subscription records — kept to meet tax and accounting
obligations and to resolve billing disputes or chargebacks, with your name and email
removed.
- Moderation records — reports of content and related records are kept
to enforce our Terms and handle complaints; identifying details of the reporter are
removed.
- Abuse-prevention data — a device identifier used to prevent repeated
free-trial abuse and, for accounts we have banned, a one-way hash of the account email
used to enforce the ban if the same person signs up again. Neither is used to identify
you for any other purpose.
- Pseudonymised usage and cost logs — kept for security, debugging, and
abuse investigation, with account identifiers dissociated where possible.
Retained data is kept no longer than necessary for the purpose above. See
Delete your account for a plain-language summary of what is
deleted and what is kept.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other applicable data-protection laws, you have rights to
access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or port your personal data, and to
object to certain processing. You can:
- delete your account directly from the app (Settings → Account → Delete account),
which removes your personal data within 30 days — see
Delete your account if you have uninstalled the app
or cannot sign in;
- request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to restrict or stop
specific processing, by emailing
support@seimai.app.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, you have the right to
complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. In the UK that's the Information
Commissioner's Office (ICO) — ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
In the EEA, you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Seimai is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from
children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated
via email or in-app notification.
Governing law
This policy and any disputes relating to it are governed by the laws of England and
Wales, without prejudice to mandatory data-protection rights you may have under the UK
GDPR, EU GDPR, or other applicable laws in your country of residence.
